When should I get my regular checkup?

Most patients should come to our dental office at least once every six months for a checkup. Not only does the American Dental Association recommend this, but countless medical studies indicate that poor oral health can actually have an influence on other parts of your body. By completing routine checkups with us, you also ensure that no underlying problems are causing harm. If they are, we’ll be able to stop them in their tracks.

How do I know if I have gum disease?

When the gums start to bleed, look red or purple, become swollen, or your teeth begin to loosen, you likely have gum disease. Remember, gum disease is not something that should be scoffed at. The American Academy of Periodontology notes that those with gum disease are actually twice as likely to have heart disease later in life. It’s also been linked to conditions like diabetes, stroke, and cancer!

Will a root canal help my toothache?

Toothaches are usually a result of infections inside the root canal. If a tooth is severely damaged by decay or physical injury, they are far more vulnerable to bacterial infections. The pain you experience during a dental infection is due to bacteria reaching the inner area of the tooth. With root canal therapy, we can remove this discomfort, take out diseased tissue, clean the tooth, and seal it with replacement material known as gutta percha.

Can I really get a permanent crown in a single dental office visit?

Hilltop Family Dental is happy to offer CEREC technology to make receiving a dental crown faster and more enjoyable than ever. After capturing digital impressions of your mouth, we’ll send it to our CEREC milling machine. Over the next hour, the machine creates your beautiful, custom-made crown.

Why do I need to replace my missing teeth?

Not only can it be embarrassing to have missing teeth, but it can be far more difficult to speak and eat. Those with missing teeth also tend to be at higher risk of gum disease and future tooth loss. We offer multiple tooth replacement options at Hilltop Family Dental, including dental implants!

Are porcelain veneers a good option to cosmetically enhance my smile?

When you want to quickly make dramatic enhancements to your smile, especially when you have several imperfections like chips, gaps, stains, and cracks, porcelain veneers are a great option. To complete treatment, you’ll need to make time for at least two appointments.
